Hi all,

I've had a rather horrible transition in my moving house with Spark.
First the spark person said there was only copper and the pre-connection order was put down as a disconnection (for a new house).
OK, Fine, the second person I spoke to tried to set things right (after me hearing him say numerious times, this is not right).
Pre-connection order proceeded only for him to ring me the day of it to say it can't be done because the house is only fibre.

I was moving into the house in 3 days so what he did was ship me out a wireless 4g modem (Huawei B315s-607) to at least keep the internet and phone afloat while fibre is connected.

Took me a few days because of unpacking etc to get the computer going only to see the wireless 4g modem does a double NAT.
The wireless modem sees the WAN address as 100.88.x.x whatismyip.com sees the internet address as 122.56.x.x

Until the fibre is actually connected (still no known timeframe) is there a way to get rid of the double NAT?
I've tried most everything I know of in the web UI for the wireless modem to no avail.

The Spark people seemed confused by the whole double NAT thing and what it means.

I don't think its double nat, its CG-NAT, and thats how it supposed to be, and can't be fixed afaik.

Why do you need a fixed IP? If you let us know, someone here might have a suitable work around.

I dont believe the OP requested fixed IP himself. This device has been sent to him as a temp fix whilst he awaits fibre connection.

OP - is the device brand new or used?

Well not fixed IP but more like VDSL where the IP the router/modem reports is the real IP on the internet.
I can handle the IP changing as long as the router/modem reports it correctly.

The apps I use are detecting the double IP and not liking it very much at all.
Port forwarding or DMZing the machine itself on the router here does not help at all, neither does attempting to use UPNP.
(But to be honest the DMZ will not work full stop as there is more than one machine requiring this and DMZ only works for one if it actually did).

Brand new, I had to break the security seal on the box.
Default usernames/passwords (now changed as I always do) port forwarding, UPNP, DMZ, and Virtual server options all tried on the router to no avail.

And correct, This is a temp fix until fibre is connected. But certain things definately don't like the 2 IP's to get to the internet.

A VPN might help, can you let us know what apps you're trying to use?

Plex for one, Xbox One seemed to have massive issues as well.
But for the Xbox it MIGHT be more an ubisoft server issue, I don't know about that definately.
Also a VPN product I use which I'd like to remain nameless (No, not Tor).

This is what a reset is for ! (and will be needed if you want to rid it of your username/passwords as the next person might be able to use them

It's working as designed and nothing you do on the router can fix it.

You'll need to do something to work around it, such as renting a VPS, and tunnel your whole connection to there for example.

There is only the Broadband APN on the SIM. You can't move it over to the direct APN as that won't work.

This is what a reset is for ! (and will be needed if you want to rid it of your username/passwords as the next person might be able to use them

:D there is only one password I change, I just change the admin default password in this situation.
admin/admin, BUT if you build these routers what can you do, you can't personalise every admin password as the end user would need to keep the documentation.
Put in a back door? Ummm, Na.
I'm just in a habit of resetting the admin password first and foremost and also downloading and checking the config.

Well feck is all I can say from the replies above.
I was hoping there was a short term solution but there is not it would seem.
I spoke with the Spark guy and the updating of the Spark systems to show fibre is available so they can start the fibre connection process on their end should be through tomorrow.
Oh well tomorrow is a new day and onto more unpacking.
