I've just changed from Xtra to XNet and I'm curious as to what is meant to happen to my Yahoo!Xtra privileges. I can understand some things may be lost but then my old Xtra email address is now a Yahoo! logon so I don't know what goes and what stays. The relevant websites don't seem to be helpful here so has anyone else gone through this?

Your Xtra password will be reset to something you don't know - so in effect you lose access. You can pay $2.81 a month to keep your e-mail account active - I have an eleven years old @xtra e-mail address that I still have active, and I use to access the Flickr Pro account - cheaper than paying Flickr and you have other services too.

When the telecom broadband is cancelled (for example: you move to xnet) the associated yahoo!xtra (this is the user@xtra.co.nz you enter into webmail etc) username should be deactivated too.

Sometimes people have found that their usernames haven't been deactivated, but if you don't have xtra dialup or telecom broadband, then it might be removed. .

This means that you'd lose access to all the services that yahoo!xtra provides.

This includes your @xtra.co.nz account, flickr pro, yahoo!xtra briefcase and others that rely on that username.

Mf has noted that you can change to the email plan but you might find that you may need to select the lowest dial up plan ($5 a month).

Cheers guys. It was primarily my Flickr I was worried about (esp. as I had rolled my pre-Bubble account into the Xtra one). I might have to do some fiddling about.

Switched from Xtra to Orcon 8 months ago and still have my yahoo!xtra email :)
