Have just started to get some intermittent problem with our ADSL and wondering if some knowledgeable GZ'er can have a look at our modem stats

An external MTR trace shows loss and the hop before our modem. A line test has been carried out and supposedly nothing wrong.

Its a Cisco 857 connected to a master filter and run from a UPS. Happy to supply further connection details if required.

Have you been seeing overnight disconnects? DLM has been (being?) rolled out recently for ADSL Chorus lines - the 6dB noise margin suggests either this, or ULL. This can result in re-syncs at about 03.00 which may or may not cause the PPP session to drop as well.

857 is a pretty old and gutless router these days.

Maybe worth investing in a new router

However they do tend to be pretty reliable.

You might be able to get VDSL now too?
