My M-in-Law and wife are both on this post pay plan for their cell phones. I was thinking of adding another but searching thru the Spark website it seems to have vanished and the only post pay plans start at $39.99 and there's no way I would pay that for a low usage user. Would rather put them on Skinny's $16 / month prepay

You did say they are a low usage user so was only a suggestion

1 cent SMS and 20 cents a minute calling and credit valid for 1 year it suits many low usage users

Yep it's not too bad. I just setup a Voda SIM at home here today to check for coverage on this plan but they want to stay on Spark and use the One Bill feature..

It's grandfathered. There's still the $30 One Bill but you'll have to ask for it specifically.

When I tried to set it up for my sons phone about 6 months ago the cheapest plan they had for one bill was $29.99 (However I did get 12 months of $10 credit to my landline bill by being a bit grizzly about that). so ended up even. (apart from my son having more data than the rest of the family).

Thanx folks. I guess $19.99 / month is considered low spend by telcos these days. They want people to move to higher plans or prepay.. I suspect if you want to buy a phone over 24 months interest free you will be forced to move to the higher plans..

If you are low usage, then go Skinny and select no combo. Casual rates of 20c for talk/text/mb etc. Minimum $20 top up every 12 months.

Vodafone is better for texting, it's only 1c/text.

VodafoneNZ Pay&Go far cheaper for SMS and you get fantastic Friday offers
