OK, decided to do it.

Well it's an arse....

Yesterday He had a go, but he could not budge the copper down the existing pipe. It's jammed. Possibly squished when the driveway was paved, who knows.

So alternative is:
Cut across drive. Run cable down fence (ugh), cut across path and up into corner of house.
The opposite corner from where things are now.

He made neighbour sign by scaring her with if fence gets replaced, they have to re-run cable along new fence.

I calmed her by saying: 
1) It's our problem not theirs
2) I'd reattach it myself anyway


But yuk, just what husband fussed about and what I hoped to avoid.Anyway he came back with 5 more guys, said they'll start now, cutting drive etc.

TODAY

 

God, husband was right.

Yesterday they got their bloody neighbour form, he went, came back with 5 more guys, said they'll start cutting the drive.
They sat about having cups of tea on roadside, left, never to be seen again.
Rang Spark, Spark got told he was waiting for neighbour consent.
Ah no.

So now they chasing it again to see why him and his 5 guys haven't reappeared.

We did the holes in floor, I have moved my cabling around to accommodate this new hideous install, attended to path ourselves.
So having done half the work for them, where the hell are they?

 

wipe your paws.

So you're essentially saying they've only partially completed the installation? It is hard to make out with your post.

Sounds like you're having the time of your life.  And you should trust your Husband.  He is always right :-p

 

 

 

I'm just going through the process myself.  And getting frustrated also. Anybody here have an idea of how often they can use the existing ducting with the copper, and how often they have to go cutting concrete?

One came yesterday.

 

he couldn't get the copper back out of the existing pipe.

 

He decided to run it across drive, down fence, across path.

 

 

 

He then wanted consent from neighbor because of fence.

 

he go it .

 

he then said he'd make a start then and continue next day

 

he went off and came back with another 5 guys.  6 in total then.

 

They had cups off tea and left.

 

Nowhere to be seen.

 

 

 

Spark said Chorus said they were waiting for neighbour consent about fence.

 

No, they go ti.

 

Spark said they'll chase them back up and ring me back.

 

They haven't done that either.

Are you having a vent, or require some sort of assistance with aspects of the install.....I'm having a hard time figuring that out?

I do wish the designers of all the magical fantasy land processes were actually made responsible for sorting out problem installs, instead of pontificating about easy things are to their managers and responsible ministers.

 

 

 

Talk about head in sand.

 

Good luck - its your property, and as tiring as it is to manage tradies.... they dont get paid till you are happy and SIGN OFF.

 

 

 

DONT SIGN OFF TILL EVERYTHING IS GOOD FOR YOU.

I had an issue some time back and a number of people here just went on and on why don't I get fibre instead of helping with the issue.

 

well this is why. Partly.

 

What do I want?

Well, partly a vent. Partly to document the process as it goes.

 

I don't trust them, something that seems to becoming justified quite rapidly.

 

Spark haven't been much help, still going on about consents, which he HAD already. And told me it was go then.

 

So here I sit, all day wasted, no sign of anyone and nothing useful from Spark either.

 

Husband hated the idea more than me and spent 3 weeks saying what if this what if that, well a=what if has so far come to pass.

 

Beginning to hate the whole idea.

 

Sadly wireless broadband wasn't a go either, too much congestion here.

Unfortunately in many cases now, you're better off doing the donkey work for the install yourself (if you have the know how and ability) as these fibre installs will continue to be done cheaper and cheaper.

Shame you can't bill the installation company for your wasted leave when they don't show for a day they set!

 

Wouldn't have so many no shows then.

So finally got some response from Spark.

 

Chorus cancelled it.

 

Because of the consent they already had! Their mistake.

 

Too bad, next earliest to resume is now 26th June.

 

 

 

I hate the whole process, I hate the fence install idea.

 

I hate that it's either this or wireless.

 

Cause I can stall but sooner or later the copper will be gone.

Having slept on it, or actually spent ages last night looking at other peoples pics here, compare speeds and so on for the alternative, we have decided we are stuck with it.

 

Seeing as we now have ages to wait, we're going to do as much as possible ourselves.

 

The path isn't an issue (to us) so we'll do that properly. we have some 20mm plumbing pipe, dig it ourselves, cut the path, run that under, in a better position without his bends, to the corner and re-do the path.

 

I'm not going to let him cut my drive, he can cut the concrete bit instead.
And after reading Chorus website, on what you can and can't do, which is different to what he said, I'm amending the fence part too. May do some of that too.

 

 

 


So the lazy buggers can come back and feed it along without wrecking the place.
