HG659B modem.

Trying to solve another problem, I deleted my DMZ records in my HOME NETWORK >> LAN DEVICES section.

now i cannot connect my main Pc to wifi. OR access the wifi settings at 192.168.254.

Luckily i had guest access active (im on the net now on PC ) & i have access to the modem settings via my IPAD.

i have tried repeatedly on WIN8 & win 10 Pc to connect to my main wifi - But i am told " cant connect to network "

so far it hasnt given me the option to change/reset my passwords or "forget" the network.

in my home network >> LAN DEVICES I can see my two PC,however the "name" of the PCs are now their computer names

(example: 12-6D-A6-21-4E or something..).

I have rebooted both Pcs & still cant get in on the main wifi.

QUERY: what do i do in the settings, to allow my main PC's in ? i can SEE the wifi signals, i just cant connect.

To Forget your Network on Windows 10, click on the WiFi icon in the taskbar, then click 'Network & Internet Settings'. Click WiFi on the left, then on 'Manage known networks'. Find your SSID, click on it and click 'Forget'. Now try reconnecting to it again.

Also wondering, why did you set up a DMZ in the first place?

Also wondering, why did you set up a DMZ in the first place?

i have no idea - ive been trying for the last (donkeys years) to have my two PCS talk to each other.

Both can see the internet - Both connect to same wifi signal (till it broke a few hours ago) But they couldnt talk with each other..

One thing i id notice, if I went to WINDOWS EXPLORER & networks - on both Pcs, they saw different sets of devices. But they were connected to same wifi signal. (two different networks?).

But now - my main prob is to gt them reconnected to the network.

PS - how do i remove DMZ without cutting off all net access ?  (i have admin access to modem website)

Been through the settings & DMZ is PART OF the LAN settings. i cant see any separate setting to turn DMZ on/off.

(192.168.1.254 = settings)

You won't need to touch DMZ to get your two PCs "talking" to each other. When you first get your PC connected, it should ask you whether you want this to be a private network or a public network. Choose Private network for both PCs.

Are your PCs set to assign an IP address automatically?

It doesnt seem to ask that on 10 anymore, just always goes to public and I have to go in and change the sharing stuff which seems to provoke it to moving to private. Better than 7 which just got stuck on public all the time.

Still disable the firewall on the headless desktop PCs because they will randomly go back to public meaning no RDP or VNC into them.

Both are on PRIVATE networks & I have sharing set to YES,

QWhen i go to windows Explorer >> Networks.

- WIN8 machine only sees itself - the win8 machine

The win10 machine sees itself, & my router (spark gateway), & my Tv (smart TV)

EDIT: As I cant connect to my main wifi signal - im on no network (private or public) - Needs to be tackled first..

I'll phone spark in the AM after a sleep in
