Hi folks

I’m excited to say that we've just launched our latest and greatest, Data Binge.

Skinny Data Binge allows our Skinny prepay customers to buy unlimited Prepay Data by the hour all from our wonderful Skinny App.

We offer four options: 50c for ten minutes, $1 for one hour, $2 for two hours and $4 for twelve hours.

It’s really easy to start a Data Binge, just make sure you have enough credit on your account.

Skinny Mobile customers can use the latest version of our Skinny Mobile app or text DATABINGE to 2424. (You will need to be on one of our new 4-weekly combos.)

Once in the Skinny Mobile app, tap on Data Binge and choose how long you want to Data Binge!

Super simple stuff.

For more info you can head to www.skinny.co.nz/databinge

Chris

Seems a rather familiar product...

Not available to Skinny Direct I'm guessing?

I got the text today and I must say I was delighted that Skinny is following in the footsteps of the 2degrees "Data clock".

lol @ Skinny copying 2degrees with an inferior product. How is it inferior you ask?

Our ability to send you the notifications depends on network conditions and your device setup. Because we tell you upfront what the duration of the session is that you're buying, it's your responsibility you don't run over. You need to be especially careful if you're on Standard Rates, but have a threshold auto-topup set up. This would mean that once your Data Binge session runs out, if you keep on using data on Standard Rates, your account will repeatedly top up every time you reach the threshold.

2degrees Data Clock disables your ability to use data on the casual rates as long as your number is registered with their Data Clock app, so even if their notification doesn't come through or you miss it - your remaining credit is safe. Skinny/Spark is going for the cash grab here.

So the Skinny site says not for tablets, tethering or hot spotting yet I have the option to buy it on my tablet? I'm tempted to try it to see if it works, could be useful for those quiet night shifts and a bit of Netflix.
