Im in the Hawkes Bay we had some bad weather end of last week,noticed during the weekend and upto today my net keeps dropping my DSL light goes off and then comes back after 30 odd secs ive dropped atleast 7 times since 5pm ive checked changed filters etc turned modem on and off it does it randomly so its hard to set a pattern to it.

 

 

Modem is a standard Spark Huawei HG630b naked VDSL line ive also noticed when it drops sometimes the line speed is completely different my last drop.

Indeed it does.

 

 

 

Likely your looking at a wet line, corroded link or loose joint.

 

As a real quick test, if you have a Landline phone laying around, plug it in and see what the dailtone is like - Spark naked lines are technically toll-bared phonelines. 

 

 

 

@starkey sounds like you have done a fair bit of troubleshooting there.

 

If you have spoken to the helpdesk, DM me your Ticket number.

 

 

 

I'm happy to have a look directly, this will likely be Lower priority than my usual job for obvious reasons though, DM me your line number preferably and contact details, i'll see if i can't lock down some key figures for action while i'm waking up :)

 Scratch noise aligns perfectly with a contact.. varying noise quite clearly based on the movement of your attainables, once again typical of this sorta fault.

 

 

 

instantly jumps to a likely treatment :)

 

Gotta love being able to profile a fault in seconds...

All part of what Sparks Proactive Assurance team is up to... I for one am excited for what the future holds, Proactively handling of faults is just the tip of the iceberg.

 

While i may fire out the logic off the back of my hand a insane amount of research goes into it!
