I'm doing quite well out of being in my garage when salespeople call so far this year.  $500 and counting ...

The latest is someone from Spark offering me $300 to change from BigPipe.  Any reason why I shouldn't take the $$$?

Deals I've scored from door to door sales people, as they walk past the garage to get to the house.

My guess would be being around the front of the property when the salesmen on commission call.

I'd look at cost difference over life of contract rather than just short term inducements.

Unless I'm missing something

Bigpipe basic UFB $79 per month

Spark Naked 100 equivalent $94.99 per month for 1st year then $104.99 per month so if you were contracted it wouldn't take too long before they recovered the $300.

Actually $84.99 per month, including a phone line, Lightbox and a "modem".  So I'd still be well over $200 ahead.

The salesperson mentioned that I could get the deal rolled over after the 12 months, but who knows what will be on offer then.

$84.99 looks like either the Spark 1st 12 month rate for naked 120GB or normal rate for 60GB with phone. I was using the naked unlimited rate to match the BP connection.

The word geek has been around for a while, but the meaning has changed recently.  So, just to prove my geekiness:  http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2011/03/are-you-calling-me-a-geek/

The "normal" price in the quote is $114.99, less a $20 discount and the free upgrade to 100 Mb/s.

Spark's standard promo (3 months free on 12 month contract) is even more appealing than this if you want gigabit.

Spark: 140*9 - 40 + 15 = $1235 = ~$103/mth (with router)

Bigpipe: 130*12 = $1560 = $130/mth (obviously; no router)

I have found it difficult to do this with spark, and been getting the run around. They did initially tell me they no longer did that for existing customers only new ones.

I'll just change back to Bigpipe if they get difficult.

If you go on a 12 months contract with Big Pipe you get a free modem.
