Good job Skinny Direct!

Amazing news! The $50 Combo now comes with a whopping 10GB of NZ data! When your Combo next renews you'll get 10GB (up from 6GB). Plus, you don't have to wait - we've just popped 4GB of data at no extra charge onto your Combo, valid for 30 days. Thanks for choosing Skinny Direct!

Impressed with how fast you moved in light of the 2degrees announcement.

Yep, as per usual 2D lead and the rest promptly follow. Well done 2D for continuing to bring better value across the market.

Well Skinny Direct was leading in the first place with the previous $30 and $50 Skinny Direct plans with 3 and 6GB of data

Whats the logic behind not offering a data only plan? ie 3GB a month for ~$15 would be awesome imo.

Because that would only get them $15 a month, which is very low.

I like to think of these as data plans with free calling and texting

Maybe they don't want to cut into Spark's data only plans.

What really makes me mad is that Skinny Direct relies on Sparks system and where I live in Browns Bay it is almost impossible to get a reliable 4G reception. if you walk around the town it is constantly dropping 4G and going back to just H whatever that is but its not good enough to allow streaming radio or to use your browser to look up anything on Internet.  how does one find out why Spark is not ensuring that areas like Browns Bay get sufficient 4G transmissions. hell we should be getting 5G.

@ronw not sure what you're on about here. Browns Bay is covered pretty well by Spark 4G coverage. This more sounds like your phone.

Depends what you mean by covered I am talking about in the shopping area you can watch it dissspear as you walk around town. It's fine up on the East Coast Road or other nearby bays but in town itself it's useless. Not my phone as I have several all do the same thing. Which may account for Spark having two Wi-Fi phone boxes one each end of the main street. Unfortunately Skinny cannot use that. Been articles in media about the poor coverage of their 4G

It's the physics of radio waves, they can bounce around and miss spots.

For the extra $5 per month I prefer the unlimited calling and texting to Australia.

In that case it's time for repeaters or whatever we are not talking about a country town but one of the most visited towns/beaches in Auckland

They are anyway, 3GB/calls/txts for $30 plan is $20 cheaper than 3GB data only at Spark iirc..
