Have bought the data cable for this phone & downloaded BitPim which is supposed to work with it but it doesn't. The guy who sold me the cable reckons the phone has drivers on it accessed from the tools menu but there's nothing there. Does anyone know where I can download or if need be buy suitable drivers to get this software to work with my phone? Many thanks :)
I just had a look at BitPim (bitpim.org), and your phone isn't listed in the supported phones list. As far as I know, the 3100 doesn't have a computer connection selection in the tools menu. I cannot see the phone in front of me and would only go to the tools menu to check if it was supported. Ask the guy who sold it to you to show you how to connect it, seeing that he knows how, and if he can't, ask for your money back, if he can't. By the way, your phone's manual can be found at www.orb.co.nz and go to resources and then manuals, if you no longer have a copy... I just had a quick squizz, no pc connection there... Sorry.
What are you attempting to do with it? I'll check the drivercode and locate the Sanyo old drivers. I'll have to dig up a Piiiinnnkilicious and charge it and test
Yeah well it's really weird. The SCP3100 is actually listed in the software of BitPim that I downloaded but the computer always says something like "can't find a valid port" or something like that. It's set to auto detect but still can't find it. So I emailed the guy I bought the cable off & he said there was a PC or USB setting in the tools menu of my phone to activate the drivers needed, but of course there is no such menu. What annoys me though is that the manual for my phone actually lists the USB connection as for being connecting to a computer etc. so it should theoretically be able to be activated, but apparently it needs drivers for Windows XP to recognize it as a mass storage device. Coincidentally I just bought a Sanyo 5600 which came with the wrong USB cable but this one I bought for my 3100 works with it so I can at least use it for that I suppose. But if I could find some way of getting the 3100 & my computer to have a conversation that would be great!!! I wanted to play around with the ringtones & wallpaper & stuff like that - I mean if the dang phone is equipped with a USB connection surely there must be some way of using it? thanks for your help guys :) any further info would be great too, maybe I should try the Sanyo website? Luckily it is the same cable for all the sanyos, as far as I know... I'm guessing a 'normal' person could use the phone as a modem... We use the data cable at work to transfer contacts between phones. I have no personal experience with the 5600. Wonder what phone the cable is for?

You can't do this with Sanyo phones :)
As for ringtones on the Sanyo 3100, you are really quite simply wasting your time, you would need to really really know what you're doing and then some luck on top of that.
