So I just got this email from Skinny, whome I have ‘home broadband’ from ($52/100Gb)

Hi Neil,
WE'RE UPDATING OUR WIRELESS BROADBAND TRAFFIC RULES.

Broadband works a bit like traffic on the roads. Mostly it runs just fine, but it can slow down a bit during busy times. So we're changing things to help everyone enjoy the same experience with Skinny Wireless Broadband.
WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR YOU?

Most people won't notice any difference. Some people might get a speed increase, whereas others who download a tonne at busy times might notice things slowing down a bit. Ultimately, it's all about making things fair for everyone.
WE'VE UPDATED OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

These changes will kick in from 20 December 2017 and will be reflected in our updated Terms and Conditions, which you can read at skinny.co.nz/terms

The link then leads to a massive 20+ page T&C document with no indication of what exactly the ‘updated’ terms even ARE?

@livingskinny please could you explain what may have changed in less than 1000 words?

This seems to be the same changes done on the spark side for Wireless BB.

basically as has been mentioned in your quote.

Traffic management where required in extreme cases.

Expected impact is the likes of 4K content dropping to HD which doesnt seem all too bad.

All good as I only do HD myself anyway... and might have an improved experience too!

Just would be nice if they said explicitly HOW they will limit as (of course) our NFlix/youtube/neon/Lightbox youtube does spike in the evening when SWMBO is streaming music, the boys are watching DinoTrux and I’m sometimes on YouTube or NFlix myself too.

At what point will I trigger traffic limiting and when will I be ‘accidentally’ breaking some obscure T&C condition?

Capacity is something the team is pretty quick on, i know there are a ton of sites going live in expectation of Christmas, often these are positioned to target a constrained area.

As i understand it it's intended only at the most peak time and ideally expected to Share airspace more than shape you to buggery
