I don't use the Facebook mobile apk on my phone, instead using m.facebook.com or mbasic.facebook.com to browse.

When I click on an external link and using mobile data I get a warning that I'm leaving Facebook's site and that "standard data charges will apply", along with a Spark logo.

Does this mean I'm not charged for Facebook data when using Skinny mobile data?

It's probably a generic warning; I think Spark has a specific plan ("Socialiser" or something like that) with free/cheap Facebook access. Facebook probably displays the message if it suspects that you might be on Spark.

I’ve recently been in touch with Skinny about this. Short answer - they now know but can’t explain it. To be continued.

From Skinny...

Greetings Joseph,

Thanks for getting back in touch with us here at Skinny Direct and apologies for the delayed response. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. I've had a word with our support team and we've tried this on one of the test phones we have in the office and we managed to get the same intermediate screen.

I've been informed by our support team that this shouldn't normally be happening. We do use the Spark network, Spark is our parent company, but we should have our data network set up separately. I've escalated this issue to our network mechanics and we'll be in contact with you as soon as we receive a response about the error.

Cheers
Joseph

Edit: I actually read your post carefully. There’s no free Facebook data on Skinny so we shouldn’t see this at all.

And if Socialiser did apply it would need the Facebook app to be used. AFAIK there never was any explanation why the official Windows Phone Facebook app wasn't suitable.
