Does Telecom unlock WorldMode handsets?

Just curious, as Telecom have stated that they will not be SIM locking their GSM handsets, will they unlock WorldMode phones if requested?

No, these are primarily CDMA handsets and secondarily GSM handsets that will NOT work on Telecom's new GSM/WCDMA mobile network.

Thanks. I was thinking about using with another SIM card overseas, but nevermind. The half price roaming at the moment seems pretty good.

I seriously doubt they will.

Their position is likely to be "No locked handsets being sold for the new network", whereas the Worldmode phones are designed to be used on the old network here, and GSM networks overseas.

Being that the W531 does not even support MMS on GSM, I just can't see Telecom going there.

Entire post is pure speculation of course.

The Samsung W531 worldmode phone can be "unlocked" to run on take a nz vodafone simcard, so the answer to your question should be yes, you could use an overseas sim card.

Search the forum for unlock or vodafone and samsung w351
