Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing connection drops this evening/early morning.

Might be something to do with my own connection, as I've had issues with the cabling from the drop point in the past. However, this time, the connection comes back periodically and drops back out again. Seems to have started as of 12.30am.

FYI, I'm in Auckland.

Cheers,
Tarique

My BigPipe UFB dropped at 00:44. It came back at 00:56, then dropped again at 01:25 with no recovery. The only fix is to power off the ONT for 15mins, then back on. Not 1 minute, 15 mins. Yes I tested. It needs some magical period of time to reset *something* (session expiration on Chorus/BigPipe end?).

This is the second time I've had this problem, both times see to correlate with Chorus doing an upgrade. Not sure if the party to blame is Chorus or BigPipe - I don't really care, I just wish they'd stop cutting off my connection and benchmarking my 3G failover.

Thanks, chaps. Seems to be okay since then.

I don't recall being notified of any planned outages so just assumed it could be related to my previous issues (of which there were many!)

No word from Bigpipe yet. I assume they'll just tell me the same thing.

Anyway, good to know. Cheers!

Hey Jethro and Tarique, I've had a look at both of your connections and they look as though they're fine now but I can see a drop early this morning that lines up with the work that John and Steve have indicated - if either of you are still having problems, drop me a message and I'll look into it further.

We use Vocus for a couple of connections at work and received this yesterday morning 3rd October (not sure if any other ISPs sent out warnings):

SCHEDULED UPGRADES HAPPENING OVERNIGHT.

We have been alerted to some planned updates by Chorus which will impact your services for a short period overnight.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Chorus are completing firmware upgrades to the Optical Line Terminal (OLT).

WHEN?
The work began last night, 2 October, and Chorus will be carrying out remaining works anytime between 11PM and 6AM, for the next two nights i.e. tonight and tomorrow night, 3 and 4 October.

HOW WILL IT IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS?
For the firmware upgrade to be applied, services will be down for up to 23 minutes. Specifically, service to your ONT (Optical Network Terminal) will be dropped for a brief period.

YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING.
Your ONT and modem should be working normally after this brief outage, however a reboot may be required in some instances.

See here

RSP's don't seem to care to add planned outage notifications on their websites.

Given your Vocus connections are business I can understand them notifying you
