Hey guys,

I remember a while back about Chorus upgrading their speed on the basic fibre plan from 30 -> 50. I can also read this about FibreBasic on Spark that their FibreBasic supports 50 in Chorus areas.

I asked a team member at Skinny who replied with that Chorus is provisioned at only 30 so thus the plan is only 30.

Can anyone confirm this? :/

I have of course. However being that Skinny runs through Spark, and that Spark Basic supports the Chorus upgrade, assume Skinny would too. But then to be contradicted and told that Chorus only provision the service at 30 not 50, I understood that it would be 50 regardless and then up to RSP to support the 50.

Yes the Skinny site covers the speed I just put in my address and clearly states the speed / Price

Unlimited Fibre 30

$ 73 Our cheapest fibre plan. Great for all your fundamental basics like web browsing and video streaming

then

$78 Unlimited Fibre 100

then

$88 Unlimited Fibre 200

No i'm not missing any point

Chorus may provision the service at 50Mbp/s but the retail ISP can keep the old speed of 30Mbp/s (Control it from ISP side)

Chorus can say we are only going to provision 500 Mbp/s but the retail ISP still can restrict the speed to 30Mbp/s from it's side

As with anything like this, that's always a discussion point and something that the team are damn quick at sorting.

Hi! Sorry about the confusion. Skinny Unlimited Fibre 30 is actually 50 in Chorus areas.

I'll ask the team to update the website.

I know this has more or less been answered already, but I thought I’d just jump in and reiterate.

Fibre is sold, on the wholesale level, by bandwidth size. What Chorus have done is offered the Fibre 50 at the same price to those providers with Fibre 30 plans.

However it is up to the individual broadband provider if they decide to follow through with the offer.

Apologies, I stand corrected. Skinny Unlimited Fibre 30 customers on Chorus UFB currently get up to 30mbps. We're working to resolve this, no ETA at present. @funnyfela - please pm me if you signed up on the basis of information I provided above.
