Our street and the surrounding streets are finally being upgraded to UFB.

I am on Spark, VDSL Unlimited. I get about 45 down and 9.7 up. I have Netflix as part of the current deal for another 3 months and also have Lightbox thrown in (which I use).

I have been looking at the Spark UFB rates and am wondering how to decide on a Plan, which includes Netflix AND Lightbox.

I believe Netflix is only for 6 months on a new Plan.

Also, what sort of speeds I need. I do a lot of streaming of TV programs, surfing the web, but that is about it.

VDSL has been fine, but I want to upgrade to UFB for future use.

So, looking at the Plans, I don't know whether I should go for the Fibre 100 with Landline and Entertainment or the Fibre 200 with Landline and Entertainment.

Also, I don't know whether Entertainment includes Lightbox.

I have a Vigor 130 in bridge mode to an Edge Router Lite 3.

Finally, I don't want to break any agreement in place with Spark, but nowhere have I found which says when my contract expires on My Spark.

Unplan would be your only option there.

Lightbox is included in Entertainment Bundle.

Front line will be able to tell you when your contract expires, but unplan no longer requires you to be off a contract to move to, It's just a resign.

In terms of speed; 100mbit might do you fine, you can always go with that then upgrade as you need - The only journeys will completely do this for you.

100/20 should do you fine.

I was on 100/20 and could do Netflix UHD, and other people in house doing their thing and it didn't miss a beat.

As above Unplan Entertainment would be best option.

Edit: Ask about your existing phone jacks, if they can be wired up so can still plug phone in to them when getting fiber installed , otherwise the ONT is the only access point for phone.

I got caught out but get around it by using wireless handsets.

100/20 if fine for us with multiple users and lots of streaming.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

If anyone wants to stream and game or similar then the 20 becomes the problem. And the only way to get more is to go for the fastest plan.

How do I recognise an ONT. Is it outside, inside the wall or in the garage (see diagram).

I am very interested in your comment on existing phone jacks.

I only have a Base Station with Cordless and a Cordless. Based on what you have said, I think my Base Station will have to be in the garage. Problem is the cordless phone in the Base Station is of no use there and I am sure we will forget to charge the cordless phone up.

Hi Alisam, the ONT in your situation will most likely be installed on the inside wall of the garage near the white faceplate. It will feed your router in effect replace the Draytek.

Why not just order a naked UFB connection, organise a 2Talk account and a VOIP ATA and that way you have no dependance on any ISPs voice service.

There's a fair bit of info. to digest in your post.

To be clear, once I go to UFB, then the Draytek becomes redundant?

If you sign up with 2Talk, then can you keep your landline number?

Any recommendations of a VOIP ATA phone system e.g. Brand, Model?

Hi, yes Draytek is out, ONT in. You can port your number, SPA122
