So back when I got my fibre installed I was paying around  $115.00 per month for the 100mb plan, think that was all that was available at the time and was one a 24 month contract with free installation etc.

Now my contract is nearly almost up and was looking at the plans and currently I am looking at around $75 a month for the 120 gig plus plan, which is $40 cheaper than what I am paying now... Ofcourse this is not the entertainment package because apparently i can't claim the Netflix gift if I already have on a previous contract, which makes Lightbox far less appealing as its kind of lame and I only watch Better Call Saul and Vikings on it for an entire year.

Is there a catch or something? I am getting exactly the same product minus the two entertainment subscriptions that were free anyway... Like does the plan have shaped speeds? I am slightly confused.

Last i read broadband prices were supposed to be going up, not down.

I'd recommend reading the existing thread on Unplan for a bit of context to how it works.

It's very much a flip on conventional plans, where it scales your datalimit to your utilization. This particularly targets those who think they need unlimited but honestly... they dont and are just overpaying!

The Entertainment plan conditions are the same as previous fibre plans - the Entertainment value-adds simply are nolonger in the base plan allowing a cheaper product for customers who don't need to take up the offers.

I can't speak to what's to come at this stage, but i will say that the first iteration is not the final plans at all, As with anything in market things always do need to change or be tweaked.

I'm excited to see the improvements due, as it gets Very much more simpler to a customer.

There is no shaping involved. For Fibre you order xmbit, and you get that speed the plan allocates. Wireless options are obviously a little more variable by nature of the medium for bandwidth.

For 100mbit fibre, in the current market you would be looking at $75 - $95. Add 10$ for Landline or Entertainment packages.

One last thing to note, is i suspect you were on the 100mbit free upgrade as part of the 24M offer.

$115/mo was the full price for 100/20 unlimited with landline wasn't it?

Most people got $10 off that.

Unplan $75 for up to 120 GB does not come with landline as standard.

So that $40 saving is made up of

- ditching landline -$10

- unlimited data to 120 GB -$10

- Entertainment pack as standard on the old plan -$10

- long running promo you could have got offering 100/20 for price of 30/10 -$10

From what I can tell above 120gig plus on unplan is $85.

That’s without entertainment, probably 30/10, and no landline.

Then basically to go up to 100/20, or add phone line etc is plus $10 for each item.

Vikings is on Netflix one season behind with 5.1 if you have a sound system.

Edit: looks like Lightbox and Netflix doing season 5 same time.

Oh man, thanks for pointing this out, I had in my mind that the plan was auto-adjusting the prices with every different selection i was making so actually ended up being $105 a month without the entertainment package... Still a saving but a notice vodafone is far cheaper and has free National calling to any landline.

Now it's starting to look like It will not be a saving, if a include my phone plan, I could get netflix for an entire year with vodafone if a switched.

It's a shame really, i have had fairly reliable service with Spark but seems they are not really wanting to compete.

Yeah i think I got $10 off the first year or something and a year of Netflix...

But seems my math was bad and I was in the mind that the stuff i was selecting was auto-changing but seems it wasn't.

Thanks for the link... Yeah I am on the 24M/100mbit free upgrade plan, I seem to think I must have extended at some point as i got 12 months of Netflix and then I got another 6 months so I think I got another year added to the contract, I also receive a $10 discount with my mobile phone bundle...  However now that someone pointed out something, it seems i will not be making much of a saving after all... And I actually will be paying more for less services because the 120G+ will with 100mbps will take me to $105 month with landline then the bundle deal with my mobile will add an extra $10 so I think it's time for me to switch providers.

I was excited that I was actually going to be saving some money but hand't done the calculations right.

Do you "need" a landline?

We dropped ours about 2 years ago, even with some protests from the OH, haven't missed it ones yet. There are 4 mobiles in the house, plenty of ways to contact us if desired. Mobile plans include unlimited minutes so no issues about costs. Double bonus is no more "microsoft tech support" or other marketing calls. Cheaper and no annoying calls, win/win

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Unfortunately still necessary, call a lot internationally and just can't beat some of the prices, also have people calling from overseas, I have considered VOIP or getting a Skype number.

If it wasn't for having to communicate with older generations internationally then I wouldn't need it and could do all my communication online.
