I see this tv promotion have returned once again claiming that by joining on Unplan you save OVER $800 dollars on this deal... However, I have looked at this model in most retail story going for around $900 - $993 even at the Sony Store/Sony NZ that sets the RRP it is set at $993.00 with no discounts or anything applied.

The TV which matches the description ( and price) is the KD-49X7000E

The image is (as far as I can tell is a KD-49X7500F)

The Advertisement on the website is for the 75 Series

So yes, they have the price wrong.. its around a $999 TV, not the $1799 value TV.

Someone stuffed up...

So paying $960 (Sparks) price is not a good deal.

If they gave you a KD-49X7000E the advertisement would be right (and change the image and video etc)

If the entire advertisement is $800 off then the TV should be for the 70E not the 75F but someone has included the 75F Video and Image incorrectly!

Yes, they definitely have the wrong Image and Video model placed on the advert... So this is rather misleading if you do get the model that is only around $900, it means you would never save "OVER $800" because you are receiving no discount at all.

I was actually planning on going for this deal as my contract is due to end and $800 off a 4K tv usually would be a good deal.

Man, I bet someone at Spark is really annoyed with someone at Sony.

I'd wager that when they set this promo up and did all the negotiating, the retail price on the TV was about $1700. It has since been discounted (to get rid of old models?) and the Spark deal is not a good deal.

I suggest contacting them about it to see what they can do. If I look at pricespy history on that model, September last year it looks to have been that sort of price, but not now.

The problem is the promotion just started again in Jan 28 so prices should have been checked before claiming to save "OVER $800" I think it is very deceptive whoever is at fault and should be rectified.

I find that the times I try to confront the company about something, all I get is long wait times and sent to multiple departments until it ends up turning into a 6 month saga... Usually I get a better outcome for everyone if just to make the right consumer watchdogs aware of the situation.

Had the RRP set by Sony NZ still be relevant today, then they could get away with it, but they have decreased their pricing and so have all of the stores that that have these models and it is a permanent drop in it's price.

The offer ends earlier then 4th March if stocks run out. Is there a warehouse full of these TV's somewhere? Ouch!

When I worked at the Sony Store (and this was quite a few years ago now so I may be mistaken), I seem to remember most mornings we'd check the competitors sites / PriceSpy to see what the lowest price was on the tvs and change them on the displays to reflect those prices (as Sony would price match the major stores). Maybe they've extended that to their website so that it price matches too now? And that is why this seems a bit odd now? Still no real excuse I guess
