I have a new Spark UFB installation and the HG659b modem came with "V100R001C227B022" firmware, which doesn't seem to be very recent.

The modem admin pages have a "Firmware Upgrade" entry, but it has a "Browse" button which leads to a local path.
There's no (obvious) information on the Spark website on from where the current / latest firmware image should be downloaded.

Ideas, please?

No issues, it works fine

But I am aware that many, many devices including home/SOHO routers have been compromised owing to software flaws, and am conscious of the need to keep devices up to date to avoid pwnage.

I am pleasantly surprised that my Spark modem has been delivered with current firmware, it's usually the case that as soon as I connect a device and ask it to update, it discovers it's waaay behind current levels.

Does that version have a fix for the 16 devices per wifi band issue?
Lately I seem to be getting one of my devices deciding it cant connect to my router. After a router reboot it's usually ok for a day or so then the problem recurs.
I don't think I have 16 devices on the 2.5 band at once, but am wondering if maybe it hangs on to some connection that was in use and doesn't release the connection.

My router is running the bigpipe software.

OK - Good to know. While its generally quite a decent router, that issue is quite unfortunate. I honestly wouldnt have thought that limit would ever be an issue, but am now actually pretty amazed just how many devices I have in my house that have internet access. Must be even worse in houses witha few children.

Many devices impose limits such as this simply because more than 16 devices will start to seriously degrade the wireless performance simply because of the way WiFi works. In a home environment where signal strength and SNR is likely to vary considerably you'll see issues with under 16 clients if many have poor SNR.

Appreciate what you are saying, but I don't think its an issue neccesarily with concurrent devices in the case of this device - It appears to not release a device that might have been connected at some stage in the past (but is now - for example - switched off). Havent fully worked that out yet but this what it seems is happening.

Might have to drag the TP-Link Archer c7 back out of the cupboard. I only started using the HG659 after having issues with my Fibre and the ISP insisted I had to try 'their' router - which turned out not to be the the issue anyway.
