Does Note 9 work on skinny network,

reason i am asking is, i did punch in the imei no on the skinny page and it shows cant be used,

but it seems note 9 does have the bands which skinny uses in nz, would there be any issue you think ?

Is it an imported phone or from one of the main carriers (Vodafone/Spark/2 Degrees)?

Mine works fine, I also get the incompatible phone message. Someone hasn't updated their database.

Was purchased trough Spark.

I found the same thing when I punched the IMEI number of my Note 9 into the checker thingy on the Skinny website. It said it wouldn't work. I would have taken that at face value, except when I did the same thing on the Spark website checker it also said that it wasn't compatible, and it actually is. My mobile provider is Spark and it works fine and does everything it should.

I purchased my phone from PB Tech.

I'm no expert but my guess is that if it works on the Spark network it should work on Skinny.

Interestingly I just tried the code off my iPhone Xs Max and it also said it won't work with Skinny, makes me wonder if the built in list just hasn't been updated for a while.

I'm also keen to know about 2FA texts - specifically microsoft, google and yahoo. Hopefully someone with a Skinny mobile can chime in.

I actually contacted Skinny about using my Note 9 on their network when I got that incompatible result with my IMEI, and they suggested purchasing a sim to test it before switching ($2 or something). I haven't done that yet. They said it was a known issue with some iphones that the website checker was wrongly reporting, but she hadn't heard that about the Note 9. This was a few months ago.

Any Issues around 2FA SMS would not be related to Skinny but the sending (A) party

Sometimes it can take a few days for 2FA SMS to be routed to the new carrier correctly

Got the same incompatibility message for my Honor 5X when I punched in the IMEI on skinny. Bought my phone in the EU.

Used it anyway and it works, for the most part...

Have some problems connecting at work and at home, terrible during a drive up north etc.

Switching to 2 degrees today to check it's not a phone thingy but a network issue.

No worries, will do.

Basic testing instantly yielding results - I can actually make calls from my bedroom! Couldn't do that before the switch. 2deg seems better already.

@Linux, I can confirm that for me, 2degrees is a million times better. No issues at home or work since I switched. For me, it's worth the extra $3! 😄
