Hi Everyone,

Im kind of stuck on this so thought i would see if anyone knows how to resolve it.

My Spark Wireless BB modem was reset a few days ago (my error)

Ive reset it back up with a custom SSID and password.

I can get my laptop to connect again but nothing else.

* Android phones - connect but say no internet (due to this unable to set up the below)
* Chromecast - wont connect as unable to set it up
* Alexa - wont connect as need wifi access to set it to the new network name
* Morepork camera - offline due to new network name.

Ive reset the modem again, made sure the DNS on the laptop is all good and its working fine but when i look at the phones DNS it seems to be the same address as the modem landing page ?

The two versions of android ive tried are 9 and 7, with same result.... been talking to spark online chat and we have tried a lot of things but no luck

grateful of all ideas.... to me it feels like the phone is not pulling the correct DNS

Joe

I had a very similar issue with a Spark HG659 on fibre when I was helping a friend set up their new Android TV. It would connect to the wireless, but come up with no internet, so wouldnt continue with the setup. It would do a similar thing with my phone (Galaxy S7) but eventually the internet would work.

After many resets of the modem and the TV, gave up and swapped in a FritzBox which I had spare, and everything worked as it should.

Can you browse the internet on the laptop? Sounds as though you have no internet and Android is redirecting you.

Hi @hio77 and everyone :) it seems to have sorted its self, but ironically I had to use a 3rd party wifi manager for android for a while . now back to how it was before i broke things.

It came right mid afternoon on the day i posted the message, but im still curious what caused it. @hio77 will dm the account number, sorry for the delay in replying i did not get the email when people replied to this so kind of did not know anything was happening

By the way in no way a dig at Spark this as everyone tried to sort the problem :)
