Just got a xDSL connection (ADSL2+)
wondering if there might be something wrong with the lines or something. my attenuation is quite high and I'm only just past the VDSL range and have speeds lower than I expected. Approximately 2.5km from the local cabinet.
any help would be great.

Stats from Huawei HGW639B
Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 1041
Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 11707
Maximum upstream rate (kbit/s) 1041
Maximum downstream rate (kbit/s) 11400
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 12.4
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB) 9.5
Line standard ADSL_2plus
Upstream line attenuation (dB) 17.4
Downstream line attenuation (dB) 33.5
Upstream output power (dBmV) 12.2
Downstream output power (dBmV) 19.3

They are not too bad, What does the Chorus address checker say for your address?

says potential speed of upto 12mbps.
seems kinda slow to me. i was downloading a file through a browser and trying to watch lightbox and it kept buffering.
sorta expected better speeds being not too far from the cabinet. I'm really more focused on attenuation and SNR (noise coefficientcy) I'm not sure if they're in line of what to expect or not.
Only have one phone jack in house and no alarm installed.

Are these downloads over Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

FYI 2.5km is not close to the cabinet so not sure what speed you are expecting?

everything is connected via WiFi right now. and yeah didn't think it was that close. wasn't expecting the greatest speeds but buffering while streaming & downloading a file I didn't think would be an issue.

FYI these were done on two different devices. PS4 streaming lightbox & desktop PC downloading a file
