I've been using the Xtra Webmail client for a while now and have noticed a strange occurence.

Sometimes the whole interface refreshes and displays my Inbox without warning. If I happen to be in the middle of writing an email I lose my input unless I happen to have saved the email.

In the last few days I have moved browser to Edge from Opera as Xtra webmail is no longer working on Opera - it is unsupported on Opera.

The same issue occurs on Edge but actually logs me out.

This seems very strange behaviour and I feel I'm missing some sort of setting within the web client to may be even just give me a warning to save my email prior to the refresh/logout occurring. Does anyone know a way around this behaviour?

I've just checked the settings and there's nothing obvious apart from a refresh option which I amended to from 5 minutes to 30. Not really sure if that would even affect this.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

John

Ive used it for years, since Aug 2007 in fact. No issues. I use it on FF on a PC and Safari on a Mac. Try FF, see how you go

Cool, I'll give FF a go.

I guess what ticks me off is that Edge is a supported browser :-/

You could always try the Chromium version of Edge. Should do the trick.

It works OK for me in Opera, though I didn't try a long email to see if I encountered the refresh issue.

Where did you get the information it's unsupported?

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

I've been using FF for a couple of days now and it seems much better than the other browsers I have tried.

Regarding Opera, I have a vague memory of the message 'You are using an unsupported browser' at some stage when using Opera. Perhaps I got that wrong?

Currently if I try to access my webmail using Opera, I get this message.

This page isn’t working
If the problem continues, contact the site owner.

HTTP ERROR 400

I use the url - https://webmail.xtra.co.nz/ as I do on other browsers where it works OK. On Opera I am redirected to www.spark.co.nz/cwa/openam/SSORedirect/metaAlias/Xtramail/idp1 (with parameters) and the message is displayed.

If I copy and paste this redirected url into FF then I eventually get redirected to the email app. This just doesn't happen on Opera.

So there's either something screwy with my version of Opera or they are blocking Opera users, although the latter sounds unlikely from what Technofreak has posted.

Thanks to everyone again, I shall continue with FF for the moment.

Cheers

John

I think it might be a problem with your copy of Opera. I not at home to try that link on my laptop but it works OK on Opera on my tablet.

Have you tried clearing the cache.

My main reason for using Opera is because Opera in my opinion is the Rolls Royce of mobile browsers, particularly the text reflow function when you zoom a page. By also using the desktop version I am able to sync across all of my devices.

I've just had a chance to try that link using Opera on my laptop and it works, I end up at the sign in page.

Are you running the latest version of Opera?

Thanks for the responses Technofreak. Yeah I like Opera too.

In the end, I just cleared all the cache options in the Advanced tab, as well as turning off a few pre-loading options and it worked again.

Strange one.

Cheers
