Noticed that my network responsiveness was pretty bad for the past few days

Ran a couple of speedtests on Auckland servers (I'm on the shore) and latency hovers at around 35-40ms where usually it would be around 7-10ms

I'm on 100/20 UFB if that matters

Anyone else having similar issues?

Cheers

edit:

I am by no means a network expert but seems like something is wrong

My computer is already connected via Ethernet so I have so far:

Changed my DNS to default Bigpipe/Spark ones

Swapped out my Orbi to the HG659b to test my connection

Restarted my ONT

Problem still persists.

Anything else I should look for?

Also it doesn't help that Spark traffic to Geekzone (Cloudflare) goes through overseas connections since they don't peer in New Zealand.

Seems like you’re affected as well. I couldn’t play any multiplayer games where the server is located in Australia. The latency is pretty bad. Probably a routing issue?

Not that I’m aware of, I’m the only one at home and I’m not streaming/backing up anything.

Simple answer - it is because Spark don't peer to Cloudflare so it is going via Hong Kong instead of Auckland.

Do you mind pinging the Stuff/Stuff Fibre website and see how it is?
I’m getting 35ms. Curious to see how’s it like with 2d.

Your trademe pings are fine.

Your geekzone pings are dependant on what cloudflare node you land on. in your case, Hong Kong.

Also, it looks like you are running those tests over wifi..

Also, I understand that Spark has some weird routing methods with Geekzone but that’s really not the issue
I’m getting high latencies across a lot of Auckland servers.

It affects my multiplayer gaming as well

Would help if those were shared preferably with traceroutes to go with them.
