Hi there

Had a quick look at existing forums but couldn't find my problem below - apologies if I missed one.

I have a colleague operating a: compaq nx6320, vista, windows mail. The issue is an outgoing email error (receiving ok) - so I removed his existing account and added new, configured as per previous and still error persists.

I've also attached some images below for assistance.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

havent had those but had a few Mail Delivery Failure messages from "Mail Delivery System <postmaster@xtra.co.nz>"

This message was created automatically by the mail system (ecelerity).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

>>> 554-5.7.1 We

>>> apologise but this message has been rejected due to suspected spam

554-5.7.1 content.

Is it all emails?  Or just this one email in particular?

If it's just this one email in particular, its probably that subject they're using, it's pretty much same kind of subject you see in spam emails.  Try change it, and use less generic phrasing and it might not be getting rejected by the spam filter.

5.7.1 I think is authentication required. I think 554 indicates that your mail header contains content that the receiving (SMTP) server doesn’t like - so the authentication was denied

On the general tab I think there is a send test email option. It will send a plain text email and then receive it. If the error still occurs, then it may give more diagnostics.

Tried the commands above.

And? did they result in anything indicating you could contact those addresses?

Its either an issue with connectivity to the snmp server, ie something blocking it, or if thats not a real issue as others have suggested the xtra mail filters dont like the subject line, it really does look like a common spam item, ie "Re Substantial Industrial Offering"!!! well have i got a deal for you!!!

Also as others asked, is it just this one email of others, this detail is important if you want help

Yup check your antivirus.
Had a client with this issue last week.
Had to uninstall and reinstall Eset to fix it.
Just disabling it didn’t help.

Apparently this issue may have resolved itself this morning. My client reports that she is able to send mail again.

Live Mail is basically naffed now. Recommend moving to an alternative client, such as Thunderbird which should work sweet.

You can also set the mail client us using IMAP so your mail syncs between your devices.
