Hi All,

I'm looking for some help with setting up a network at a remote site in Wellington city. I can't get wired phone/broadband to the building so have been using 4G on Spark via one of their b315S modems.

It's been reliable and reasonably cheap so far, for basic CCTV but I want to install more kit in the location and need to be able to monitor things remotely - VPN in and monitor.

I've got a Unifi ERL at home which has been reliable so I got a USG, Cloud key and Unifi POE 6 port switch plus Unifi wifi.

I've since come to understand that I can't put the 4G modem in a bridge mode so I'm thinking of a double NAT... but when I connect the USG to the switch it says it can't detect the internet and keeps asks for config.

I've pointed to the 4G modem IP but it still refuses to connect - Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Cheers

Andy

Have you got a static IP? If not then you will have tripple NAT.

The problem is the Spark 4G router is on a network subnet that the USG uses.

Here is how to resolve it:
1) Adopt the USG to the cloudkey.
2) On the Cloudkey, change the USG's main LAN IP subnet to 192.168.2.0/24 and the LAN2 subnet to 192.168.3.0/24 (under settings --> networks).
3) Set WAN to DHCP (it'll get an IP from the 192.168.1.0/24 range).

Don't think so - just standard $65 per month for 200GB.

Are there better wireless alternative options?

Thanks will try that - was thinking I needed to get the USG connected first but will try to get the cloud key working first as suggested.

Yes there are alternatives, not at that price point though. Flick me a message if you need some options.
