Last year Enable announced that they're increasing their base 100mb to 200mb at no extra cost to retailers

I emailed Spark around this time last year asking if we were getting a free increase in speeds. I was told something was in the pipeline and I should get an email around Christmas (last year) time

Is there anything in the works or was I fed a lie?

Thanks

Ben

The key here is it was the wholesale offer to the RSPs. And some of them decided not to take up passing them on, just slot it in between with the 100/unlim at a slightly higher cost.

Guessing their 'its in the works' is the $90 200/20 now shown

Hi Ben,

Unfortunately the messaging you were given wasn't anything that came out of the space that would actually deliver such a capability change.

the way that enable have offered it make regional pricing not as easy to build in (unlikely what was possible with Gigatown.)

It wouldn't be hard to 'just upgrade services' but you have to consider all the other areas that need to be updated.. Otherwise to the consumer there is quite mixed messaging.

At this stage i can't confirm for you a timeline.

Looks like Orcon are passing it on.

Probably others are too.

Might pay to shop around.

To be clear, I was working at Spark when Enable first started publicising this offer, so I can say with confidence that Spark had not signed up to the opt-in wholesale 200/20 promotional offer (and still haven't by the sound of it).

What this means is that they are not receiving the 200/20 plan at a discount and simply failing to pass that discount on to their customers.

Although I no longer work for Spark, I don't want people to think that Spark are receiving a wholesale discount for the 200/20 plan and pocketing the difference. They didn't sign up so they are still paying the full wholesale price for the Enable 200/20 profile.

The above is correct.
