I've recently switched my Son's prepaid iPhone 6s from Spark to Skinny. Since the switch, he is finding that he often gets no mobile data unless he toggles airplane mode. This was never a thing while connected to Spark. Does anybody know whether there's something simple that we need to do to fix this, or if it might mean the SIM is faulty?

Cheers!

Steve

Doubt that it's the SIM.

Sounds like one of those random iOS faults that can be quickly cured by holding Home & Power buttons down together until the device flashes off & restarts. It's worth a try anyway.

Next step then, reset Network Settings - under Preferences / General / Reset. You'll lose your WiFi passwords so maybe backup to PC first.

If that's not successful, I recommend a full encrypted backup (retains keychain info), then into DFU mode & fresh iOS install. See if the problem reoccurs before you restore from backup, then wipe & restore - hopefully glitch gone.

hiya - am still on leave / out of the office this week, but can get the right folk @ Skinny to look into this next week - if happy to hold on a bit longer (otherwise will need to go through the normal helpdesk channels).

PM me some example numbers and I can take a look with them, also if you know roughly when you noticed the issues starting.

Just doing some research and I found that iOS 13 is causing these issues.

I’ve been having same problem last couple of weeks. Was about to make a thread and spotted this one.
Just happened to me before this post.

I have iphone6 which can’t run ios13 so more to it then that.
Current iOS is 12.4.4

Noted that mentioned in this thread not happening on another network so is it Something Skinny has done.

The phone shows a 4G connection, but nothing internet wise will work until aeroplane toggle, web pages just stuck on loading etc.

It happened again at 3.48pm. Sent PM from last time.

Aeroplane mode did not fix, rang customer care, reset network settings turned phone off for 2 minutes.

Internet back but on getting 3G where use to get rock solid 4G argh.

Just went to 4G now, phew.

Hi all, quick update on this. Our networks team have identified an issue with a certain (small) % of flows (that are not being correctly routed (causing the issues described). We working with the vendor on corrective action. Will get an update in the AM on when a potential fix maybe available.
