I am considering signing up with Spark and was wondering if the Netflix that comes with it would work with a non-NZ account or will it force me to create an NZ account? Trying to avoid the hassle of setting up multiple devices with a new account if possible.

yes it works. Just like you being able to use a NZ Credit card..

It's not a supported journey though. I personally only validate the workflows for NZ Netflix.

How does it work exactly? Do I get a credit monthly or the full year to the amount of the standard NZ plan? I wonder what happens if my non-NZ accounts monthly plan cost either less or more?

Looks like it is more complicated than I thought based on the line below from the T & C.

If you have an existing Netflix account you don't need to cancel it. You can use your existing Netflix details when you activate and this will link it to your Spark broadband plan. This means you'll stop being billed for your existing Netflix account separately.

I need it to remain separate from Spark in terms of billing as it is currently setup to use my international credit card which will be used to pay the difference for the premium plan.

as a user, what happens is, once your on the plan, you go into myspark click on the netflix button and it will do a 2FA check.

it then will generate all the unique behind the scenes stuff with netflix and drop you into a link that will take you through approving spark to pay for your subscription.

From there, your billing will be Via spark (unless you cancel it).

If you go Premium, we will charge you at the Extra cost rate (3$ at the time of writing this message)

and yes, there are a few different flows.

1. User creates a new netflix account

2. User is already logged into netflix, it just asks

3. User needs to login to netflix and approve.

It works. Netflix doesn't care where the money comes from. If it's the credit one, you might not get the full 12 months because of conversion rates and pricing in the region your account was created - in the case of the unplan entertainment it works

There is no extra value in having an offshore account other than possible differences in rates.

Netflix doesn't care where your account is billed. You can have a US account but if you're in NZ you will only see NZ content. If you have an NZ account and visit the US you will see US content.

I have an NZ Netflix account but live in Dubai. I see content from UAE Netflix, not NZ.

It is actually the difference in rates rather than the content hence I want to keep my non-NZ account. Even with forex I get the premium plan for 5-6$ cheaper.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

The reason I (and a lot of other people I'm sure) have a US based account is we were using netflix before it was available in NZ, and the content reasoning isn't completely true if you use a service to get around that

As above where you have your account is totally irrelevant from a content perspective. If you use technical means to appear to be somewhere else your a NZ based account will work just the same as a US or UK account.
