Friend of mine has a spark hg659 on Fibre connection. He wants to replace the hg659 with a Netgear Nighthawk AX8 AX6000. Is this compatible with Spark Fibre?

And when he does replace it, does he need to call spark to have this updated into their backend systems? Or would spark just detect that he changed modems and accept the new one into their system?

As above, should work and no need to advise. I'm not familiar with that modem but know that some Netgear modems perform badly when doing PPPoE.. (like badly enough to make people upset if they have a fibreMax plan)

Maybe someone with that model could help.

No reason not to. The other option is call spark for the latest at a reasonable price if that's all you need
