Why Skinny requires you to use their modem for fixed broadband?

Can a customer use their own modem for fixed Fibre broadband?

So they can limit their support queries (this way if you don’t use their router, you don’t get support) which in term keeps costs down.

You get what you pay for. If you want to use your own router then you go BigPipe or any other ISP.

Gordy

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

As per the other thread it seems you can use your own modem with skinny and you will not get support and need to figure out the login etc on the modem

Is it still applicable in 2020

You can but you won't get any support unless if you're using their provided router.

And their provided router these days (the same router Spark are using) is actually very good and is even better than most consumer grade off the shelf routers.

Seriously, if you're wanting to use your own router the consider another ISP (Voyager is very good).

Im with bigpipe fiber plan and ive got the Smart modem and im using my own modem as the wifi camera i have doesnt work on the smart modem as its 2.4ghz and doesn’t connect

Skinny has very good price and high quality internet as it uses Spark network and their international bandwidth is very good and faster speeds compared to other ISP

Stick with your current ISP. Also there is no reason your IP Camera shouldn't work...

You'll still need to either purchase yet another smart modem or sign up to a 12mo contract for Skinny.
