I realise we are in and extraordinary situation at the moment, but my 100Mb fibre has been pretty much unusable the last couple of nights.

Current Speedtest at 12:05am -

Anyone else having major issues, or just me?  I tried to log a support ticket just now, but the submit request button timed out...

Considering you're on a Fibre connection this, to me, looks like you've got upload congestion issues.

You hosting anything / running torrents or anything like that?

If upstream saturation was in play I highly doubt you'd see pings that low. BP is 100/20 isn't it?

Yes, we are on Bigpipe 100/100 and have noticed poor performance in the last few days... not unusable though.

I don't have any speed tests to back up my comments.

Also that speedtest is to nzpbx.com try using Spark Auckland and via Ethernet not wireless

Cyril

Edit, that said I am on Spark that is the exact same network as BP and got 78/29 from nzpbx, which is as fast as my VDSL goes

nzpbx.com isn't the worst, it does look to possibly only have a 1G line though.

Is there anyone else using your wifi? Could be a friendly neighbour who is suddenly a heavier user.

There are no network utilisation metrics that give any evidence of your observed issue being a Spark/Bigpipe capacity related concern.

As above, test with different servers, make sure you test with a known good client machine, wired, using the speedtest app.

Cheers _ N

Thanks for the thoughts.

The tests were definitely on 1GBe, I may be dense sometimes, but not dense enough to run a speedtest over Wifi.

I'm reasonably sure that there is nothing internally sucking up the bandwidth.  There is just the wife and I sharing the connection, so not too hard to work out what we are doing.  I will have a go at putting some SNMP monitoring on the connection today to be sure.

I haven't changed anything since last night, and speedtest results are looking more normal, although still a little down from where they should be.

My gut feel going by how it gets consistenlty slower each night, over the last 3-4 nights is that its external network congestion.  Maybe the local chorus fibre node?  I'm in Ellerslie if this helps.

Perfect. as covered in my DM, I'm not seeing any issue at the handover or network provisioning layers unfortunately.

I've supplied another test to try, please do so as I'm suspecting it may be server rather than actually connection related.

I'm also having slow access to websites etc on BP right now (on static ip) - been happening for past couple of hours, rebooted router, connected through ethernet.
