Yup. There are old lookup tables on devices and SIMs out there... if you hang on to it for long enough it could be worth something at auction ;)

Yup it could be that Motorola have not updated their PLMN / Carrier lookup for a while. I assume your device is a dual SIM device and the other one that is correctly showing Spark NZ will be getting that from the SIM.

Network names are derived from a combination of Carrier broadcast, SIM, and phone SW. What gets used depends on manufacturer, and priorities they set.

and frustratingly many of our carrier partners still refer to us in emails, comms and on their websites as Telecom NZ, no matter how many times you provide them with official renaming documentation....
