Hi all,

Came across an interesting fault/bug today whilst on a call on my iPhone.

Whilst I was on the call, another call came in on call waiting, but the actual call I was on went very garbled and the caller hung up.

Then I called that caller back and received another call waiting call and same issue happened, so we decided to experiment.

Each time I was on a call on VoLTE the existing call would go very garbled, almost like a bandwidth issue. Roll back to 3G and no issue at all. And we tried from different carriers and also from VOIP. Still the same issue.

Then swapped to a Vodafone Sim, no issues at all with Call Waiting, so assuming some kind of Spark issue/bug.

Ive raised a fault with them to investigate, but thought I would seek the opinions of the community to see if anyone else has had the same issue.

Oh and just to note, I am using an eSim for Spark in an iPhone XS Max.

Cheers D

I have also experienced this with VoLTE, I'm on Spark using a Note 9. With VoLTE disabled no issues.

Yes - I raised a fault and they investigated & fixed it. Turned out to be a location specific issue (Christchurch) and an upgrade of some kind had to be performed to resolve it. Happened with every call so was easy to reproduce, except in my case the call would drop.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Interesting to see that the fault is not location based for me.

Currently on the South Island and back and forth between islands each week, in city and country areas and still the same.

Have turned off call waiting for the time being as calls over 4G is more important for coverage etc.

We’re aware of this issue impacting certain ‘call waiting’ scenarios and VoLTE, that may result in temporarily impaired audio during the alerting tones. It’s being worked on a a fix should hopefully be tested and ready to rollout soon. Will post an update when it’s resolved.

My comments and remarks are not necessarily of my employer.
