Sending 190+ emails to club members about a group event got the message 'Too many addresses'. Had been able to cut the list in half and it would go through but last week it got down to no more than 10 addresses at a time before "Too many addressees". At that rate people would have been turning up at the event I was trying to cancel.

Who do I talk to to get me removed from a spammers list.  Help desk was not

Which email server is returning this message to you?

it should be in the rejection email you get back.

Whether you're using 2degrees email system or something third party like Gmail makes a big difference to answering this question. In general, most people are much better off using gmail / hotmail / etc rather than ISP email.

Really does come down to what the error says and whats generating it.

What SMTP server are you using ?

What is the domain after the @ on the sender's email address?

Hi All,

There are some thresholds on mail relay/proxies etc for 2degrees to protect against spamming recipients, as per above, clarity on what SMTP server your using is needed. If it is 2degrees, next port of call is calling customer care on 0800 022 022.

Done a lot of reading and::: The message which comes up is :

""Alert

An error occurred while sending mail The mail severer responded 4.7.1 Too many messages from "Me" @xtra.co.nz   450 4.7.1 Please try again later.

Please check the message recipient "bevwayne@gmail.co. and try again.

OK""

The bevwayne email address has been perfectly OK for months

The Server setting is :Yahoo! Mail  - send.xtra.co.nz (Default)

and the server name is :   pop3.xtra.co.nz

To my way of thinking that's nothing to do with 2Degrees.. I was with Telecom for years but changed to 2Degrees a few years ago but kept my "xtra" email address.  ($5.95 a month)

So where am I screwing up ???

it looks like the xtra/yahoo server is limiting the number of emails you are sending.

doesn't appear to be 2degrees related at all. A Mod might want to move to the spark forum.

You are right, nothing to do with 2degrees. The error message is pretty clear "Too many messages" - I'd Xtra is now limiting the number of recipients in emails.

Options are reducing the number of recipients or if this is a business email perhaps use a commercial smtp server.

I recommend SMTP2Go. They allow you to send 1,000 free e-mails per month.

Personal mailbox isnt for running a mailing list on. Perhaps look at the free tier of mailchimp as an option?
