Hi :) This is my first post on geekzone and I need some help.
At the moment I have my internet running in one room through a Dlink DSL-202G (im on xtra) and I have a Dynalink ADSl2+ Modem (RTA1320) I got given. Both run through ethernet on my basic xtra broadband.

I would like to set up both modems to use the internet a the same time in different rooms within the house. But whenever I try using the Dynalink modem it cuts off the ADSL connection to my Dlink modem (both have filters on them). Can anyone here please help me or explain to me how to set up both modems to work at the same time as my friend has the same setup but his works.

Thanks

Tane

From what i am getting. you can't use two adsl modem's together on the same line as they would keep knocking each other off

You can't run two ADSL modems straight from the jack. It will definitely interfere. Not sure how your friend would set it up.

You will need a network switch.

Not sure about those particular modems, but some single port modems will only allow one computer to connect thru them at once.

Either way, it would be more ideal to use a modem/router/switch that is designed for use by multiple PCs at once, especially if you do anything intensive like voice or gaming applications.

From many electronics stores who also sell computers and modems. It always pays to shop around - it's also a recession remember!

Just get youself something like this, ascent is a good online store, probably get it quicker than if you drove to the shops, same web site has bigger switches should you desire. While you are there get yourself some cables, just cat5e cables from any of these suppliers like Anyware, dynamix or digitus are fine.
