Hey guys,

I'm with Skinny now and have just got their new Skinny Smart Modem (same as the Spark one). I was just wondering, does the Skinny staff automatically upgrade their Skinny Smart Modem? My Skinny Smart Modem is currently on firmware version v6.00.12 build07.

Yes. Updates are periodically pushed to the Smartmodem for Spark/Skinny users.

Cheers - N

Your firmware is even older than mine.

I joined Skinny Fibre back in Aug 2020. My Skinny Smart Modem firmware remains at v6.00.15b05 as received in Aug.

When I did a temporary swap to my spare Spark Smart Modem on 3 Oct it updated almost immediately from v6.00.15b05 to v6.00.16b01.

So it seems that Skinny do not update their modems.

I have been emailing Skinny helpdesk re firmware update to v6.00.16b01.

What I have learned from the trickle of information from 4 different CSRs:

- Skinny has not released v6.00.16b01 yet.

- Updates occur on Monday evenings only.

- Skinny can provide a link   http://192.168.1.254/autofw.htm   which will force an update within 24 hours.

- Trying a hard reset did not force a firmware update.

So I remain on v6.00.15b05.

Oh I see. Thanks for letting me know. At least now I now that my current firmware for my Skinny Smart Modem is using the latest firmware which every Skinny customers are also on too. Can't wait for Skinny to release the v6.00.16b01 as I'm hoping for WPA3 or maybe finally allowing us customers to set the Wireless mode for 5Ghz to only use 802.11ac. 🙏
