Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing increased latency to AWS, particularly to the West Coast US.

I used to get 25-27ms to Sydney (AWS) and now its about 35-40ms

I used to get 110-120ms to US West Coast, now its 140ms+

I used to get ~120ms to Japan, now its anywhere between 140-200ms

This is effectively leaving me region locked competitively in Battlefield V (which uses Amazon EC2), which sucks because there are only a handful of servers and really only full in the evenings.

From the tracerts below it looks like theres a big latency increase when it gets to 150.222 (Amazon) addresses.

I imagine there are probably other games that use AWS also by EA

You never got 110 ms ping time to the US west coast as that would make it faster than the speed of light, sorry. The current fastest NZ-US route is Southern Cross cable Auckland-LA and real world on that is 124ms between the core routers connected directly to Southern Cross optical links.

64 bytes from 10.93.10.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=124ms.

ok fair enough, im just going by what i recall so I might be off a bit but the point is moot, the issue is that there is some sort of additional latency when handing over to AWS.

To the point it is very noticeable from an in game experience. It's indistinguishable to AWS in Australia, but it is virtually region locking playing Battlefield to only Australian servers, due to the additional latency to AWS West Coast and AWS S.E.A ( Japan / Singapore)

In the evening especially it can jump to over 200ms

General latency is fine, it only appears to effect traffic to AWS

It could well be issues on Global Gateway (Sparks wholesale Internet) Amazon PNI's (Private Network Interconnect's), I'd suggest you log it to Spark.
