Hi everyone

Yesterday our landline stopped working. We could receive calls but couldn't make any calls. After talking to Spark chat we were told to restart the ONT. After doing that we had no dial tone on all the phones except for the cordless phone. As we have integrated wiring we then tried to plug a phone directly into the ONT but we still have no dial tone. Spark chat said we must've plugged it into the wrong port, but we tried both ports.

Any thoughts?

Some cordless phones fake a dialtone because that is how older people are used to phones working.

+1 to that!

And if the cordless don't do it, the Router may produce it's own if you aren't direct to ONT.

Always keep a corded covered in dust handy to use the same outlet like you have (or direct to FON1 of ONT/Router) to see if it's got current/active. If even that's dead. It's time for logs/investigation

Facepalm on the community group when there is a fibre outage (fibre only area) and everyone jumps on going 'I don't understand it, still got dialtone'

The strange part is we have three phones, one cordless and two analogue which all had dial tone until yesterday.

The POTS light is off and stays off when the analogue phone is off the hook but when the cordless phone is in use it does turn on.

Have had this same issue a while back possibly as a result of turning ONT off while I was patching cables.
Solution was to have spark “reset” my phone account from their end. Asked them how this happens or can be prevented but they did not know.

On my ONT the TEL led is on all the time indecating that the phone circuit is live. Without this on there us no dial tone. When I repower my ONT it can take 20 minutes for the TEL led to come back on. When it's off there is no phone service in or out.

Our ONT is a Type 200 so only lights up when in use.

Sorry for my lack or response here, I've been off sick.

Have the OP logged a fault?

I have tried on Spark chat who then called and basically told us if a tech comes they will definitely not find any fault.

Not sure if they logged it.

Hmmmm.  Can you PM me your details and I can take a look at the connection.  I'm not a voice guy, but I can verify if the IP session is up and healthy.
