Long story short my work phone is an iPhone 12 Pro that has microphone issues so apple send out a replacement. On the faulty phone I had a 2degrees sim as a backup sim and a spark esim with my work number on it.

I took the phone into the spark store at Westfield Riccarton in Christchurch around 7 yesterday and it took them 2 hours to fit a screen protector and try and sort the esim (we were kicked out at closing, how long should this take?) Admittedly the guy was apparently newish to the role. They have buggered something up and said that because of the long weekend they cant get my work number back up and running until the team gets there on Tuesday. The way that we communicate with work is txt so this leaves me in the dark. They put in a divert so calls will come to the 2degrees number.

My best guess is that he’s entered the IMEI number in for the real sim and not the virtual sim when setting it up. I did ask him and he said it is definitely the main IMEI number that is meant to be entered.

To make everything more complicated it’s my sons 7th birthday party this afternoon and the number I gave out was the spark number.

Is there anyone that works for spark that could pretty please look into this for me?

First off I would be calling and you might speak to someone that understands the setup better and can actually fix the issue

Your work needs to move with the times as well if you all communicate via SMS that is nuts!

I don’t have time to call them now, hence the quick message on here. I’m setting up for my sons party

In the time it took you to post this thread to an unofficial support channel (ie support is not offered via Geekzone, we’re just lucky there are sometimes people who read these forums) - you could have jumped on live chat or the phone and probably got this sorted.

It’s the weekend too so even less likely this thread will get picked up.

It true, I’ve just spent over 30 mins on the phone and been promised a call back.

And the live chat says…

I'm sorry, my human colleagues aren't available at the moment. You can try again later, or try asking me another question.

This is what I don't like about eSIM - it puts you at the mercy of the phone operator to change numbers between phones.  Whereas with a physical SIM, you're totally in control - you can change in a plane before landing in a new country for example

When I registered a laptop eSim yesterday (success), Spark entered the EID number, displayed by the laptop's network settings, not the IMEI. What is an EID number in a phone?

Another 2 hours and 15 mins at the spark store today. At one stage there were 6 spark employees standing around the p.o.s. They were insistent that it was an issue with the phone despite the fact it’s brand new and I factory reset it this morning. They tried to put the number on a physical sim and still no luck in my phone or another phone. Putting a staff members sim in my phone works. As does my 2degrees sim.

The store have no idea what the issue is. I’ve just put a plan on the 2degrees sim and will be moving away from them next week. Do any other providers have esim with Apple Watch support
