Hi team

Just moved house and the 4G coverage is subpar - 3G is fine. The only issue is that there's no data connection on the iphone with the 3g connection - voice is fine. Obviously, once the fibre is connected there'll be no issue, but has Spark disabled/changed their data settings? I noticed the other day when it dropped to 3G the iphone through that "there is no data connection" message up too.

using iPhone 12.

Cheers, team

What I found thus far is spark and 2degrees prioritise their full paying customers vs their pre paid.

I couldn't get reception in a mall on skinny

I find connectivity far better on paid accounts on vs skinny or warehouse mobile.

That's just out of 2 weeks experience moving over from pre paid to post... My 2 c

Hi there -
First - no, there is no prioritisation of data for skinny/pre/post providing you have available data allowances.

In areas of low / poor 3G coverage you can however expect poor data performance, but generally voice services will continue (again regardless of type of account).

My comments and remarks are not necessarily of my employer.

@zocster this is 100% utterly not correct

@SaltyNZ What do you think about this comment?

Sure - feel free to DM me some times, locations, and details of device/phone # you were using, can take a look what’s going on and if anything can be done.

With the exception of when billing/real-time rating systems are down, data is data. In some respects, prepaid data is worth more $. I’m not aware of any operator having such prioritisation.

I am aware of some operators prioritising fixed wireless voice data over mobile data over fixed wireless general data… but this is miles different to what was being suggested.

Thanks I avoid that mall like the plague.

We have a mix of Android and iPhones mid to high end.

Pretty much full bars with 3G and there’s just no data connection. I’m getting the “there’s no active data connection”

I believe it’s an iPhone 12 problem. Can you use a Samsung as see what happens?

rang Spark and asked them to perform a reset, this was done and works fine now. Be interested to know a bit of the techy background to why it fell off 3G but 4G was all ok.
