Over the last couple of weeks I've had maybe a half dozen people who have been returning a missed call from me.  They all seem to be genuine people who are doing this; I'm quite sure they are trying to scam me in any way.

The thing is, I haven't called any of them but they have evidently received a call that appears to come from my number.  I've exchanged texts with the last one to call me, and he/she has received three similar calls over the last week, from three different numbers.

Is this a new way for scammers and cold-callers to get around people who don't answer calls with no CLID or an overseas CLID?  I haven't contacted Spark about it (I'm a Spark mobile customer) because I can predict the response - presumably this is a hack that is outside their control.

Has anyone else seen this or know anything that can be done?  Presumably they're just selecting random numbers for this, because mine isn't on any websites or similar

I never call back missed calls if the number doesn't come up in my contacts list. If it is important they will ring me back.

If its important they will send a SMS about why they want to call me. If they cant be bothered because "its too much work" then answering their call is probably too much work for me to do.

Unfortunately there are too many helpful or curious people that call back! Maybe behaviour will change if this trick becomes more widespread

Probably a scammer spoofing your number. Short of changing your number there is little you can do.
