Looking for options outside of paying the ridiculous charge of 15$ per month for a static ip (Where bigpipe charges $45 one off)

We have two separate connections on fiber one has some CCTV cameras and well the IP keeps changing anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Needless to say its annoying because Cloudflare doesn't have a ddns service.

I used to find it wouldn't change unless I rebooted the modem but its been happening more frequently.

Any suggestions? or could spark step in maybe help me out :)

Spark won't 'help out', there is no guarantee how long you'll have a public dynamic IP for. I have found a month or more on the same IP is not uncommon. You're on Fibre with a reliable power supply?

Edit - just checked and my Skinny Fibre connection has had the same IP for nearly two months.

Basically if you need a static the answer is pay for it, or move to an ISP that offers it as a one off cost rather than an ongoing cost, if you're not OK paying that cost.

I'm with slingshot. I've had the same public IPv4 address for the last 2 years. And the previous address for at least 5 years. I'm fairly sure the only reason it changed was when Slingshot enabled IPv6.

quite easy to get Cloudflare working with dynamic dns.

eg. if your using docker, then you can use below (I use this)
https://hub.docker.com/r/oznu/cloudflare-ddns

Otherwise, the CF API is pretty simple.
A quick bash script would be possible

I also set the TTL of my dns record to 5mins so clients won't cache it for long and always get latest IP address

I don't think Spark will help with "fixing" your IP, think you'd be better looking at a diff ISP that can offer a static at a reasonable amount.

They made this change quite some time ago.

So yea, your options are get a static IP, or set up DynDNS.

I really hope you don't have CCTV on the internet without a VPN!

Seems like you have issues with disconnects which should be solved first.

Do you have "always on" type setting configured on your router? and whats the uptime of router?

Cloudflare does support DDNS. I’m on spark, and use the cloudflare DDNS service update on an edgerouter 4.

If you have Fibre we usually see connections staying up for fairly lengthy amounts of time.

The question would be why your connection is dropping? And if there is anything we as a service provider can do about it.   Best PM me your details and I'll see what I can see for the line in question.

No guarantees though as (for example) the Local Fibre Company (whoever that turns out to be) may not classify dropping once a week as a fault.  PM me.

My Edgerouter support DDNS with Cloudflare so would expect the same from the UDM.
