Hi All,

We have just moved to the pro plan (from go large) and whilst I have seen a speed increase in the upload, our download has remained basically the same.

According to some script somewhere using line attenuation and a loss of 13db per km I am approximately 2100m from exchange and should get around 16000mbps..

Here is current router info:

Item Downstream Upstream Unit
SNR Margin 12 11 dB
Line Attenuation 28 14 dB
Data Rate 7892 1019 kbps

Any suggestions?

I recently installed a master filter and used cat5 to get from the line end of the filter to the modem but our house has old wiring from the demarc which will be a slight pain to change (home business) but as I said according to a few sites my speed should be much better.

Help greatly appreciated!

Chris

Great! This address is near an exchange which has already been upgraded with ADSL2+ technology.

Plus the modem is using ADSL2+ modulation: http://img352.imageshack.us/my.php?image=adsldb9.jpg

The Telecom website says April 2009 for my suburb but the below link from Chorus shows my cabinet is due for completion 19 January 2009 Smile I live 50 metres from the local cabinet and have seen Chorus working on it so looks like the spreadsheet is a better indication.

I'm guessing the Telecom website has inflated the timeframes so people dont get carried away with expectations. Better to over estimate than under deliver

Perhaps this could be your limiting factor?

Sorry I can't be of much more help.

Having talked to you in the the GZ IRC Channel last night, let us know how you get on. Good to see that an isolation test pulled your speed up to 10.5Mbits though. Laughing

Whoops, my mistake - sorry.

Do perform an isolation test, though. They're one of the most basic (yet effective) ways to see where a problem lies.

Hi,

I apologize for being slightly OT.

I checked for one of the local cabinets upgraded to ADSL2+. Yesterday it was at NO for migrated to ADSL2+. Today it is now YES :-)

That cabinet is TRV/F . I'm connected to TRV/K which is scheduled for this coming monday so i'm pretty excited to see what my synch speed will get to. I'm around 50 metres from it.
My friend gave me a Dynalink RTA1320. I tried it for a while and it synchs higher than the D-Link 502T. Put the D-Link back on because it didnt immediately co-exist with my wireless router but help from cyril on GZ sussed that.

Should i go to the Dynalink once the cabinet is upgraded or is the 502T enough?

I suggest using the Chorus spreadsheet to see what date your cabinet  will be migrated because Telecom says April 2009 for most of my area!

Exchange Cabinet Suburb affected Planned Migration Date Cabinet Migrated? Copper Feeder?

I would say that only cabinets which have been upgraded in the last month or 2 as well as the ones which have yet to be migrated will be on that spreadsheet.

Oh ok that makes sense. Yesterday I drove past and two Chorus staff were loading it up with copper.
