So I never really thought about it, I have a @xtra.co.nz email address I have used for around 20 years.

We moved from Spark to Vodafone about 10 years ago.

I have no idea how I have been payin for the .xtra.co.nz email address all this time, maybe they just forgot to close it off?

So are you asking how to go about paying for 10 years of email usage? Have you an alternative address?

Edit: I see from your other post that you may have a Spark mobile account. That could cover your email.

I would say to stay away from an ISP email. If you port your mobile or close your account, your email might disappear without a warning.

wonder if it's one of those email for life type of arrangements like what Orcon have, there was a period of time I wasn't an Orcon customer for a couple of years and still had access to my Orcon email and when I queried I was told that even if I wasn't a customer I got to keep it.

I moved away from Telecom now Spark and created my email address in yahoo, but kept the xtra.co.nz email account alive to catch any stray ones.

Still had to pay $5.95 per month to keep this alive, as I did'nt want it to be closed off all of a sudden.  Some have said that the xtra email was active even
after they closed their Spark account.  Just didnt want to risk mine.

Edit: corrected typo

Ahhhhh no. Spark are one of the exceptions. New provider, and the world opening up with lots of providers and churning, the requirement you need to remain with them or pay to keep it as a bit of an 'incentive' you might say, come about.

What happens to my Xtra Mail account if I cancel my Spark broadband?

If you're not a Spark broadband customer but you have an Xtra Mail address that you'd like to keep or reactivate, you can get Xtra Mail for $5.95 per month.

You cannot buy Xtra Mail on its own.

and yes, as above at same time of replying, its one of those.. what if you don't risks.
