So I have the Skinny SIM powered broadband router for when in Auckland, I put in my Hastings address and it says this area is not available.  So I bring it to Hastings and it works - go figure! So why are they saying it wont work when it will ? Do they not want it in Hastings due to poor infrastructure, load, etc?

This has been answered many times here before. FW broadband will only be offered in areas where there is sufficent cell tower capacity. As RF is a finite resource (in comparison to fibre) performance degrades as more customers are online in a given geographical location. To keep performance good, connections are limited.

You may well be disconnected soon as a result.

Skinny will know you have moved the modem and will cut it off sooner or later as it is a breach of the terms of service

I lasted two days before they contacted me so yes they do monitor it and yes they do act on it.

Do not do this! FWA broadband is only available where there is tower capacity for it, by doing this you are compromising other users mobile phone access

Just an update from the OP, I contacted Skinny and they have moved the address of the modem to Hastings so I'm all good. Presumably there is capacity for me...
