Anyone know if this is possible? Meshing 2x Spark Modem 2's together for Wifi?
ie. Primary one is connected via 4G and have 2.4/5ghz Wifi. Second one just is an extension of Wifi.

This is as an alternative to purchasing a Spark Smart Mesh 2.

I havent tried it yet but thought I would ask in case anyone has.

Thanks

I have done this,

My setup I connected the second unit to the main one by cable

Once you connect them together it shows the secondary one in the portal and adjusts the wifi settings for you

Thanks. Does it have to be connected via cable or can it extend the current wifi network?

I believe it can be connected via the wifi, I never tried that option as I already had a cable in the location

I did have a small issue when setting it up that it got confused and cleared the settings of the main unit after a day, I think this was caused by a firmware mismatch so make sure both units are on the same firmware

Just a heads up on this - Have tried and meshing via ethernet backhaul is fine. Cannot get it working via WPS/WIFI.
Looks like it can be only connected via ethernet backhaul.

Might need an actual mesh for WPS/WIFI.

Was there anything special that needed to be done to setup the mesh between 2 spark smart 2 routers? I have setup 2 connected via ethernet

How long did the second smart 2 modem take to get the settings to set itself up as a mesh?
