Hello,

I received a call from a local Wellington number claiming to be IRD, and when I dialed back it went to an Indian call centre wanting my credit card for a refund.

The number is obviously a NZ 04 number so I was wondering who can I contact to get this local NZ number shut down?

If you want to know what a scam call sounds like.... PM me for the 04 number.

Report it to TCF or your provider - likely have a reporting tool. one have one open for the scam account calls currently
Just because it's a NZ number doesn't mean it's paid for here, or even real.

They buy VOiP links with nz endpoints. That go straight back to the source spoofing the ID

But when your provider gets a timestamp and numbers they can at least try shut down the upstream IP.
