So, I signed up for xtra earlier - swapping from XNet - and I just got this email:

Test results:

After completing further checks, we're sorry to confirm that the cabinet your phone line is connected to is unable to support broadband. We have recorded your interest and will notify you should the current situation change.

The funny thing is, I already have broadban with XNet, and it seems fine. The only reason I'm leaving XNet is because of poor international speeds/latency over the last few weeks - aswell as ther other issues in the past(torrent plan causing my net to die at 12).

Any idea what this is about?

Maybe the cabinet is full rather than unable to handle broadband......

If you already on broadband, (unless it is naked), then it will just be a simple churn to Telecom broadband. Phone them again and explain you are wanting to churn your connection to them.

So... I called them, they said I can't change to Xtra because the system needs an update and can take anytime up to 2 years... What the hell...

Are you still on DSL connected to Xnet? Is this a naked DSL connection, or normal DSL + Telecom phone service?

I'm still on DSL with Xnet, and it's just a normal DSL + Telecom phone/tolls.

I called the number that was in the email - 0800 22 55 98 (Broadband Helpdesk)

try calling 123 ask for new and moves, and tell them you want a Broadband winback order run.
